Rachael Wilson is a singer-songwriter from Chicago with roots in Belfast. Her sensual lyrics are uplifted by lush, shimmering vocals. Rachael draws upon her classical training in her singing, and she blends this foundation with inspiration from singers including Linda Ronstadt and Rhiannon Giddens. The themes of her songs surround her intimate relationships with nature and loved ones, organizing, and being on the road.
Mad Dream is a folky, trippy, feminine album with a rock and roll heart. The title track explores Rachael's desire to get the most pleasure out of life as possible, while the anthemic “No Glory” calls out systems of oppression that oppose such pleasure. “Jewelry Box” and “Beloved You” each touch on Rachael’s gratitude for cherished relationships, while “Consort” examines her more complicated relationship with her own voice and performing life. With the sensual, “Solid Ground,” Rachael takes a nostalgic look back at time spent in Ireland growing up. Rachael's songs are celebratory and declarative. They evoke the feeling of savoring a cup of black tea to the last drop, taking the first step into a steamy bath, and basking in the sun.
Rachael is looking to connect with other Bridgeport musicians, especially drummers and guitarists as she works on fleshing out a band. Her album is linked below, and you can contact her at rjwilso2@gmail.com
