Kelly is Suzuki trained and utilizes her enthusiasm and knowledge of music to enrich the educational and artistic experience of cello students of all ages, levels and backgrounds. Playing cello enhances coordination, develops fine and gross motor skills, and helps students process emotions, develop positive self-talk, and build a healthy self-image. My goal is to nurture each student holistically, cultivating their musical passion, skills, emotional health, and perseverance. Kelly has been teaching in private lessons, group, and orchestra for 20 years.
Active as both an orchestral and chamber musician, Kelly can be seen playing in a range of styles — from new music to classical, to Baroque performance practice, to free improvisation. She is currently the other half of the duo Missing Piece with violinist Dan Galat, as well as the cellist of the Tuuli Quartet. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in cello performance from the University of Alabama and a Master’s from the University of Oregon.
